September 21 & 22, 2011

Right, now I have finally realised something. This was meant to be a blog about everything I ate for a whole year. It still is. However, I found in the process that I had a passion for writing a blog, and wanted to keep things going, flowing and interesting. But I also found out what writers block is. This is definitely something I didn't expect, I mean, how hard can it be writing what you eat for a whole year? The answer is not very hard, but really freakin' hard at the same time. Being so open and honest about it? Well that's one thing, but trying to be creative, fun, interesting and engaging? That's a whole other ball game.

I feel like I have been in a lull lately. A food lull, and a writing lull. They 'could' be directly related to each other, and to everything else going on, I guess laziness plays a part too. So I am going to try to pick up my game and make this back to what I wanted it to be, rather than a 'I just have to do it cos I said I would'.  So here we go.

You will never guess what. I had berries, yogurt and nuts for breakfast, with a drizzle of honey. SHOCK HORROR!

Lunch was something special, more chicken and avocado with sundried tomato on ryvitas. Yep, two ryvitas. I may get bored of typing it, and I may get bored of looking at it, but damn, I don't think I will ever get sick of leftovers on ryvitas.

For dinner I finally got around to making the beef filos, with a salad. So good, although this time Lee had a slight... I don't know if you can call it a disappointment... he loves my filos, but this time he was loving them a little less. It's because I put broccoli in them. Which is strange, he loves broccoli. But I think it ruined it a bit for him. Oh well Lee, suck it up, you have it for lunch tomorrow, and for dinner tomorrow night!

Spin class first thing, then to work for... yep, yogurt and berries. And, as usual, delicious.

I was locked in a room with my team and IT today, working on a company integration into the HR system. Funnily enough, it was a really interesting day, although long and with a cracker headache. Lunch was provided, so after a couple of hours of discussion in the morning and while Lee ate beef & broccoli leftovers,  we went with a Thai/Vietnamese place. I was tossing up between a goat yellow curry, a chicken laksa, or a Vietnamese salad. I went with the Vietnamese salad, last time I had that it was AWESOME. Vermicelli noodles, chicken, veggies, spices. Yum. When I got it though, it was an iceburg lettuce salad with chicken and carrot. Uh... what?! Still, it was pretty good but I had the major food disappointment going on.  I did have a Thai spring roll though, which are always good. And I can't forget the four chocolate chip cookies I ate in there, made by my boss. I love that she loves food. So much in fact that she apologises for making 'kit cookies', instead of 'from scratch cookies'. Shut up Janine, your cooking rocks! I love working with people who love food. Not just food, but good food, wholesome food.

Moving on, dinner was much of the same thing as last night (and lunch for Lee), here's a visual:

And, it was more than satisfying. That's it for today, so until next time, happy eatings xx

PS Please vote on my next cooking challenge! The challenges really help me with my blog mojo :)
